About Alex – Guild Founder & Lead GM
Alex has been running games professionally for over 5 years, though his passion for D&D goes back to high school. After years of playing in campaigns that never got past session or two, Alex finally dove into DMing when his wife’s friends asked him to run a real campaign for players that have never played before. That game became the foundation of what would grow into a multi-campaign operation—centered around The Lost Mine of Phandelver, brought to life with battle maps, music, and virtual tabletop immersion.

Since then, Alex has run 12 full campaigns (with the nine ongoing), each one more refined than the last. His sessions blend tactical combat with deep character integration, AI-assisted recaps, dynamic voices (when they cooperate), and a heavy dose of visual storytelling in Foundry VTT. What started at a living room TV eventually became a Patreon-supported LLC: The Game Masters Guild.

About Josh – Co-Founder & GM
Josh’s TTRPG journey began in the early 2000s with D&D 3.5e, where he mained a Human Sorcerer named Urza (yes—named after the Magic: the Gathering legend). When the group’s original DM moved away, Josh picked up the mantle—partially because he had all the books, but quickly proved he had the storytelling chops to match.

Though real life pulled him away from the game for many years, the call of the d20 never left. In 2022, his brother homebrewed a campaign specifically designed to lure him back—and it worked. Soon after, Josh joined one of Alex’s Foundry-powered Phandelver campaigns, and the inspiration to GM reignited.

Now a co-founder of the Guild, Josh brings a wide system knowledge, running 5e campaigns, Starfinder one-shots, and even Pathfinder 2e adventures. He’s a rules-as-written GM with a flexible, player-first approach: “If your group’s having fun, my job is done.”™ He’s currently mastering map design in Foundry and helping expand the Guild’s offerings beyond 5e—including a growing stable of sci-fi and high-crunch fantasy campaigns.
